What about Japan? Tim Gregory, the Vermeer Global Fund

This week on The Art of Investment podcast Tim Gregory and Paul Dixey, discuss the Japanese stock market. Until very recently, the Japanese stock market has been left behind by other developed markets and Tim is asked why this is the case. The Vermeer Global Fund has had a high exposure to Japan since launch. Tim explains what he finds appealing about Japanese companies at the moment.

Despite the political uncertainty from Prime Minister Suga resigning and a slower recovery from the pandemic relative to other parts of the world, the fund is positioned in a more bullish stance towards Japan in recent weeks. Tim expands on the motivations behind this decision.

Tim reviews stocks and themes of interest within the fund and while there is optimism on Japan, the podcast finishes with a discussion of the risks to investing in the Japanese stock market.
